Dislocated my shoulder in a bicycle accident in October. After my scan showed that the muscle had been torn off the bone and the ligament severely damaged and, in light of COVID likely to delay any operation, I switched from NHS to Thames Shoulder and Elbow private treatment. Whether NHS or private Mr Ibrahim would've been my surgeon. Within a few weeks of an initial consultation at Syon Clinic surgery was arranged for Jan 2nd at StJohn &St Elizabeth Hospital in Swiss Cottage. Mr Ibrahim talked me through the procedure and was very calm and reassuring.The operation took about 4 hours and was painless with the anaesthetic and I was released the same day. After a follow-up consultation with Mr Ibrahim I was prescribed physio which took about 10 weeks at West Thames Physiotherapy. Progress was slow but steady and I had 1 more consultation (after about 3 months) with Mr Ibrahim to check progress was on track. Its now 6 months post-op and I have full mobility in my shoulder, no pain and an active trip to Scotland including a day's sea kayaking caused me no problems. I've even returned to the gym to continue to build the strength back up into my arm and shoulder. Throughout Mr Ibrahim has been professional and approachable and I highly recommend his services.

With the Covid situation, I was really anxious and nervous about resolving the problem I had. But once I met Edward things really picked up speed and glad to say I was out of severe pain in no time. He was very good in explaining all the treatment in detail and the possible side effects. Very good communication and follow up plan. Happy with the entire checkup.

Had a good chat with Ed who arranged for immediate imaging to assess the recovery status of an injury. He put my mind at rest and set me onto the right road to full recovery via physio.

After an accident led to a dislocation and then subsequently another dislocation I had the good fortune to find Mr Ibrahim.
Firstly I was sent for a MRI scan a week after meeting him. Then we discussed the results thoroughly and I took the correct decision to go ahead with my surgery. A few weeks later I had my surgery and am now on my road to recovery with the Physio he has sent me to see. I was little worried about the scars on my shoulder, but when the dressings came off I could see how very careful he had been and I know with time my shoulder will be like new!
I cannot praise him and thank him enough, he is very lovely man, super knowledgable, efficient and kind. He has made the whole traumatic process bearable for me and for that I am so very grateful. The entire team that looked after me at The John & Elizabeth were also amazing and the after care is also of top quality. Thank you Edward!

Mr Ibrahim is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist fellowship training in injuries and painful conditions affecting the arm, including nerve problems. He strongly believes in the importance of making an accurate diagnosis for his patients and in each instance incorporates his latest research knowledge of the biomechanical reasons for the problem. This approach allows him to advise his patients on treatment options that will maximise chances of recovery and minimise risk of recurrence.
Mr Ibrahim’s practice philosophy is that the majority of conditions are best treated without surgery. However, if an operation is needed Mr Ibrahim is highly skilled in a full range of shoulder, upper arm, elbow, forearm and wrist procedures including the latest minimally invasive keyhole techniques.
Some of the most common conditions that Mr Ibrahim treats include rotator cuff tears/impingement, bursitis, frozen shoulder, first-time/repeated shoulder dislocation, biceps tears, shoulder and elbow arthritis, tennis and golfer’s elbow, cubital tunnel syndrome and carpal tunnel syndrome. He also treats patients with fractures and dislocations affecting the shoulder, upper arm, elbow, forearm and wrist.
Mr Ibrahim graduated from University College London with distinction and a first-class honours degree in Orthopaedics, including accredited Orthopaedic training at Harvard Medical School. Following basic surgical training in the Oxford School of Surgery, when he also taught Anatomy at Oxford University, he completed higher Orthopaedic training on the prestigious Imperial College London rotation. During this time, he was awarded first prize for a master’s degree in Surgical Education. His thesis on how an Orthopaedic Surgeon should prepare for complex surgery was the first of its kind and has been published as a peer-reviewed article and a book chapter.
Mr Ibrahim completed further training in nerve surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and specialist fellowship training in upper limb surgery at the Royal Derby ‘Superhospital’, including the world famous Pulvertaft Hand and Wrist Unit. He was a travelling fellow of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society, learning from renowned surgeons in Lyon and Stockholm. He is also a British Orthopaedic Association Clinical Leader and was sponsored to successfully create the UK’s first Enhanced Recovery Programme for shoulder replacement surgery.
Mr Ibrahim captained the University of London at tennis and still represents The Queen’s Club in competition. His continued involvement in sport has presented him with a unique understanding of the necessary treatment for patients who want to return to play in racket and other overhead sports.
